September is Big Brothers Big Sisters Month and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the 7 Rivers Area (BBBS7) invites the community to show their support.

“Children and youth in our community need our support and mentorship now more than ever. We have had a difficult few years and during this time we understand that the well-being of our children has been put at risk by poorer social, emotional and physical development,” said Jeanne Meyer, new executive director of BBBS7. “We have to let children know that they matter. Let them be cared for and valued.

BBBS7 is committed to helping alleviate the devastating effects of COVID on children in our community by pairing them with caring and supportive adults.

“Mentoring is transformative. This allows adults to develop healthy relationships with children and act as role models, developing social skills and helping children experiencing adversity feel supported. Meyer said.

This resilience is built through the constant, intentional and personalized support that a mentor can provide to his mentee.
