Sleeper Public Library is hosting a cornhole tournament on Saturday, August 13.

The TVO Cornhole Tournament will take place at the Thumb Veterans Organization building in Ubly at 1 p.m. Each year different events are held to help support and generate funds for veterans in the Thumb Region.

“We try to help with different veterans projects,” said the organization’s president, Steve Irvine. “We had pancake breakfasts which are going really well, and we used to have a mud volleyball tournament which is now turned into a cornhole.”

This is the first cornhole tournament, which will be an annual event. The double elimination tournament will consist of 10 or more teams. Proceeds from the event will go to the organization.

“This event will help community and veteran projects,” Irvine said.

Food will be available for purchase during the tournament. Registration will take place upon arrival. All proceeds will go to the Thumb Veteran Organization and other veteran projects.

“I can’t wait to have a great time and to participate,” Irvine said.
